Birthday!

We went to the Semmering -
which is about 30 minutes south of Opa's house,
and had lunch with Opa.
Here they are, Opa and Thomas.
Opa's nurse Marcella loves to lay out in the sun.
At night we went to the Arena,
a concert venue in Vienna.

In 1976, this 19th century slaughterhouse was slated for demolition.
People occupied it.
It has been an alternative concert venue ever since.
Thomas said:
"Wear close-toed shoes!"
Good advice.
Mac DeMarco was great,
and the guitarist of course - shirtless.

Aunt Friedl

We went to Aunt Friedl's (middle)
80th birthday party.
This is Andrea and her husband.

 My Aunt Rosie (middle),
and Uncle Pepi (right).
My Uncle Leo and his wife Traude.

 Uncle Toni gave a speech...
... and so did Uncle Leo.
We also visited the Michael Jackson memorial in Mistelbach.
The poppy seed cake was awesome!
 Friedl had a good time,
and so did we.

Dinner with my cousin

 We saw Opa today.
Then we met my cousin Resi and her family for dinner.
Resi, her husband Alexander, and Thomas,
their son Benedikt, his girlfriend Kirsten, and Florian.

Barcelona and Madrid

We saw the view from Miguel's place.
Seventh floor, no elevator.
But the view was...
 ...Nice!
Then we took the bullet train to Madrid.
The next morning we went to the Prado Museum.
We spent some time there....
 .... and saw Hieronymus Bosch.
 Thomas in the first row!
 We also saw Goya.

The next day we went to the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum,
and saw some El Grecos.
 We had dinner at Ginger.
Inside was way better because it was hot outside.

Barcelona 3

We visited Gaudi's Casa Mila today.
It was built from 1906-1911 as an
apartment building.
 The roof was great.

 This is the kitchen,
 or one of the bathrooms,
 or one of the bedrooms.
 Then we visited Erica,
Laurelle's husband's first wife,
who happens to be an art historian.
Thomas and the cat fell asleep on the sofa.

The paella was awesome that evening.
