Schafberg

We went to Sankt Wolfgang and decided to
climb the Schafberg.
We took the Schafbergbahn,
which was built in 1892.
We had a wonderful view on both sides
of the mountain.
 The Wolfgang Lake looked beautiful.
It was a very hot day.
We took the 40-minute train ride down again.
In Sankt Wolfgang, we visited the parish church and
saw the beautiful altar by Michael Pacher from 1472.
The church is Gothic, but the wall paintings
and some of the altars (right)
were done later.
In one of the panels - the Circumcision of Jesus -
Michael Pacher actually painted the interior
of the church. This is unusual, since he painted
the whole work in his studio in the South of Tyrol.
